Why is it always someone else's responsibility? Why not just read what you're signing up for?
It's nobody elses responsibility i was just saying that i didnt understand finance. Id always earnt my wages and paid for what i wanted outright prior to that. I had no family or anyone teaching me about finances etc and basically learnt 'adulting' as i went along.
All i am saying is if kids (especially those from low income/ disadvantaged areas) were taught about this stuff say nearing the end of high school, that little bit of knowledge might give them the tools to make better financial decisions.Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

@clive
Will that work ? I’m uneasy paying the £380
If they come back and say I owe an extra £200odd to cover interest and late payment charges
I would not bother with any more phone calls. You specifically said "People need educating about the consequences of catalogues and BNPL". That implies it's someone else's responsibility to do the educating.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

It's no coincidence that the people I know who are terrible with money spent most of their maths periods actively avoiding doing any work the teacher set them to do."Facism arrives as your friend. Yes it does show its buy now pay later which is what I argued. I had print screened it and then when they told me it wasn’t BNPL.. it all came off the statements but I do have the original statement saying this0

The minimum payments were £7 a month and I was naiively buying more stuff... anyway once the bnpl started to end the payments went from £7 to £250 a month and that was almost all interest. I couldnt afford it and the interest spirralled and what was about £500 of junk turned into a £2300 ccj.
It is now almost 10 years later and im paying the last £1000 at £100 a week so i can settle the ccj and hopefully move forward to buy a house.
If i knew then what i know now id have paid it all as fast as possible. The more time you waste arguing the debt the higher the interest rises and it will become unmanageable. Please just pay it off as soon as you can. You could still argue your case retrospectively and claim a refund of the interest.
Very are brutal, this ccj has had a major impact on me for too long. And the cheeky so and so's still email and write to me all the time offering a new account with £500+ limit. People need educating about the consequences of catalogues and BNPL.
That’s awful ! I defo don’t want a CCJ. I’m so
Annoyed because I kept chasing, and chasing. And they was investigating for ages and ages as it went over to their security team. And I was told not to pay anything until they finished their investigation. But they never emailed me or called or sent a letter to say they reduced it back to 380..
and now I’m in this mess. I hate very. Soon as it’s cleared I’m closing my account and never going back !!!!0 -
