Laptop Insurance or Extended Warranty Service

I'm in the middle of identifying which laptop I will buy. It will be a moderately expensive one with a fancy stylus for really good drawing capabilities.
I want piece of mind in 3 years that the fancy tech in this machine will still work, or that if any of it starts to go sour, that I don't have to shell out £500 for a repair, or £1000 for a new unit altogether.
Furthermore, I have the slight concern that I may be abroad in 2 or 3 years. That means most typical insurance providers and extended warranty plans don't extend beyond borders...
So what options do I have, really?

For the warranty - buy manufacturers warranty that is transferable abroad - Dell for example offer that.
For insurance - there are home insurance policies that will cover your laptop outside of home against loss/theft. When/If you move abroad check the local insurance providers for cover.0 -
Think what its going to be valued at in 2 or 3 years, a fraction of what your paying for it. So you make a claim for a £1000 laptop that is now 3 years old what value £200 to £400? with a £100 excess you get £100 to £300?
New for old policy? Low excess or no excess?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I would've pursued a new for old policy, if going with insurance.
Back to basics though: when I first asked this, I was hoping someone had knowledge of a company that offered a warranty or insurance that was compatible with those people that were mobile, living in different parts of the world. There's definitely a market for that, but apparently its void of participants.0 -
There isn't really a market for the insurance side. The risk is hard to quantify, meaning that the premiums will be sky high, making such product hard to market to the extremely small portion of the population that is moving between countries every 3-9 months. Less than 3 months you have flexible travel insurances like World nomads. More than 9 months and you just take whatever is available on the local market for an year.I would've pursued a new for old policy, if going with insurance.

For warranty most brands offer worldwide warranty already.0
