Leather armchairs?

Hi,

I would very much like to have a gentlemanly armchair in the corner of my room. I have seen the following on gumtree and love the look of it:

https://www.gumtree.com/p/sofas/tan-leather-armchair/1354187239

Does anyone know anything about it?

Is it old or new?
What make/model?
Seem a reasonable price?

Also, it looks rather low, are these a standard height usually? I’m 6ft so a bit worried it will be too tall for me.

Ice messaged the seller but also wanted to ask here.

ThAnkyou in advance if anyone is able to offer some guidance.

It's nice, but it looks more like a nursing chair than an armchair. They typically have short legs and high backs, to make it easier/more comfortable for mum to feed her baby.

Search google images for chesterfield armchair, that is what you are after. Probably unlikely to get a new one for £300. Keep an eye on Facebook marketplace

Looking at the condition of the leather and wood and the plump loose bottom cushion, it seems likely it's a modern reproduction of a spoonback chair It's difficult to see how low it is, but it looks quite wide. If it's close to you, you really need to try it out for comfort. The price isn't bad compared to buying something similar, brand new..as long as it's real leather.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

As Ashe suggests, I think the chesterfield would be more suitable and certainly is more of a popular choice. I quite agree with tabby with the one I posted being a little less masculine.

Is it better to get a newer one or is an older one considered better?

    Does anyone here have one?

I’ve never owned one but I’ve sat in them and they are very comfortable, but I think there are probably good and bad ones.

Chesterfields are classic and generally very comfortable. You need to be aware that the deep scrolls on the sides and back of proper "club" chesterfields means they take up a lot of room compared to some other designs. A wingback one has a smaller footprint. Never buy a chair without sitting in it first!
