Child friendships are frequently unable to survive the transition to secondary education. Children placed in the melting pot of a large secondary school interact in unpredictable ways, so old friendships may wane to balance the formation of new ones.the doctors are giving us a letter and so is her current school, but still no guarantee she would get in.
So, it's even possible that such a letter might not support your application to the school of your choice, if a different school has special provision and/or expertise in helping pupils with strong social anxiety. That could be seen as more important, long term.
I know that provision varies in different authorities, but the choice could well be wider than the binary one you are presenting to us.0 -
FTBdreaming unless your school was a private school then volunteering and getting involved so to speak will not make any difference.
No its not private but is catholic so the archdiocese (and more importantly the office staff/ teachers) does have some say in admissions. It was just an idea. I got a phonecall from the office the day a child left which opened up a space for my youngest to start nursery the week after his 3rd birthday so it did pay off for me to be 'involved' so to speak.
I think a lot of the above posts are valid and children are extremely resilient. It would be a massive waste if the OP bought a house in the catchment and still didn't get a place.Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700
