I purchased a second smartphone and it works fine. After a struggle I managed to get my Wi Fi connection. The phones has been unlocked but I am not sure if it has been put back to factory settings. There are a lot of apps showing that I would like to get rid off. Should I put the smartphone back to factory settings ( Any Advantages and Disadvantages).Would putting it back to factory settings this mean i will have to set up my Wi Fi connection again. Is there a way I can get rid of the apps on my phone that I don't need. Any advise will be most welcome. In simple easy to understand terms if possible please I am from the old school with very little knowledge about Smartphones and am a novice. This is my first one. Thank you

What model is the smartphone? Some manufacturers will sometimes install extra apps that can't be uninstalled? You can always disable some apps you don't want (so updates won't take up space).
Factory resetting will mean you would have to set up the wifi again.0 -
How can you disable apps please which will mean they do not show on the smartphone screen and lists.0

Settings - Apps - click on the app you are looking to disable - there should be a button that says disable, and press that.
Bear in mind this won't work will all apps (like the essential ones.)0 -
Typically Google apps can't be removed and nor can apps installed by a particular manufacturer. I have a few Samsung apps I don't use but can't uninstall. You will be able to get rid of ones that the previous owner installed.0

Not all apps are uninstallable. Like with my Moto X4 it had Linkedin already installed, and can't be uninstalled. Yet if you disable it. It won't appear in the app drawer, and it won't install app updates (taking up more space on your phone).0 -
My Smart Phone is a Motorola Moto G6. Is this one where you can't unistall apps.i can factory reset but that probably will not get the result I was hoping.0

Yes you can uninstall some apps but not all apps. See post 5.0 -
Just do a clean install. Setting up your wi-fi again simply means selecting the network and entering the password, which will take less time than it took to type your original post. You'll also gain more storage, and the phone will run faster.
Anyone selling a used phone should wipe it for security reasons before handing it over.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Getting your phone to connect to Wifi should be easy to do, turn wifi on, find your wifi connection, enter the password and away you go.0
