Amazon.com fast delivery

I know that Amazon get mixed reviews on here but I just thought I'd post my most recent experience with them.

Last Saturday ( 28th Sept) I placed an order on Amazon.com.
This was only a low value item ($10.89) but is something I couldn't get in the UK.
The charge for delivery to the UK was $4.44 bringing the total to $15.33 (£12.95)

The estimated delivery date given was Wed 9th October but it was posted through my letterbox this morning.
Only £3.76 for international postage that took 5 days from dispatch to delivery can't be bad.

The international courier was a company called Apex and when the package had cleared customs in the UK it was then handed over to Royal Mail (who received it Thursday morning and delivered it today).

I bought something from .com this week. It arrived here (with customs paid apparently) in less than 48 hours. Seems it actually came from Plymouth. Not Plymouth New England but Plymouth Devon.

I can't complain but I do hope the pre customs payment doesn't give them a remit to ship from wherever suits.

In fairness these days five days for a delivery from the USA is not that good. Especially for a company the size of amazon.

It would be interesting to see the tracking of the parcel and how long it was held in the customs process.

Personally, I think 5 days for shipping from the USA to the UK is extremely good when the postage only cost £3.76 for something that was delivered in an A4 sized Jiffy bag and HMRC were involved in the process.

The package was handed to customs at 8.17am on Wednesday and it was then passed to Royal Mail at 11.05am on Thursday.
