Advice for a new widow

Hi, apologies if I have posted this in the wrong section. A friend was recently widowed, and her SRP is £130.75 weekly. Her husband's pension was £196.06, plus he received a private (works) pension of about £200 a month.
We've completed the necessary forms regarding the spousal pension from his previous employers, but my friend wonders if her SRP is likely to increase.
Thank you for any information you can give me.

Did her husband start drawing his SP prior to April 2016? If so she would inherit half of any Additional State Pension (SERPS) he was due. If he started SP after April 2016 she would inherit half of his SP above the current standard rate which I think would give her about £14/week.

Thanks, I will ask her, and thank you for the link0

I am very sorry for your friends loss.
She should also have a look at Entitled to.com for further information reference and benefits she may be entitled to.

Get her to contact the pension Service . When my son advised them of my husband's death recently they said there was a back log of cases but because he had phoned they could process it right way.
They could not advise any increase there and then but a letter arrived within a few days advising my new amount.0 -
Thanks for the advice0
