Shell Energy and smart meters
Once the full details of the tariff and conditions comes through, you may be surprised to find that you have to have a smart meter installed on your electricity supply! This must be done after you have been with the supplier for 6 months; if you don't want one, they'll charge you £30. If you miss the appointment with the installation engineer - pay £30. If you want to leave Shell - pay £30! They assure me that the smart meters they are installing are second generation and will cope with frequent changes of electricty supplier but I'm not convinced. The whole smart meter programme has been a farce! Anyone thinking of switching to Shell - think twice!
