Quick M&S Bank Switch

Hi

I've just had my application for a M&S Bank current account accepted and wondered if anyone knows the quickest way to initiate a switch. I'm thinking of giving them a ring once the welcome pack arrives.
I want to get the regualr saver up and running before the rate changes if possible.

Many thanks

I recently switched to M&S, they are very slow, expect plenty of mail, it took approx 2-3 weeks to complete the switch and get the account up and running, you have to wait for a digital pass thingy that generates a pass code each time you login to on line banking, i doubt you will have it sorted in time before the rate falls, iv'e not seen any sign of it yet but with HSBC and First Direct having already done it i don't think it will be long.
I applied for the credit card first to gain the extra £40 vouchers next year and an extra £25 vouchers for first spend.

it should be possible to start a switch, via the link in post 2, before receiving the digital pass. You'd need the M&S Account number. You'd also need sort code, account number and debit card details for the losing bank.

Why the rush? Are the interest rates about to change?

With same stable FD & HSBC cutting to 2.75% this last week it looks odds on that M&S will follow suit.
  • Thanks for replies guys. Just wondered if I could ring M&S without any account info and initiate the switch that way. Hopefully the account no. and sort code arrive quickly and I can do it online.

Ring them and start the switch process. You have all the details you need to start that. Account number, card number of your old bank. Remember if its a joint acc, you need both parties available.

You do not need you M&S details. They will be able to get them of the system.

They could give a snail lessons....:)

That said, they were very fair to me - the rate was 6% when I applied and changed halfway through the process to 5% - they allowed me the 6%.
