If the plaster's crumbling it's likely due to damp of some sort.0

Agree looks like that wall has been getting wet. Would be worth taking the beading and skirting board off and having a good look behind.
Sorry but what you use the room for is not that helpful! Rough age of property, which floor level? What is - or once was - on that wall (fireplace/ chimney breast)? Any pipework (bathroom/ toilet/ central heating) under the floor by that wall? Has that part of the house had damp or had a damp proof course? Appreciate you might not know all the answers.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Ok, so I dont have all the answers lol house was built in 1920s, the room is on groundfloor..there may[ have been a fireplace there long long ago but certainly not while we've had the property. There is no bathroom above it, thats over the other side of the house but there is a boiler in the bedroom cupboard above along the same wall. N i have no idea about damp or damp proof course (i dont even know what that means tbh.. wheres my dunces hat? Lol)..June 2016 Grocery Challenge: £252.83/£175

If it's very old horse hair plaster then it will be crumbly. Picture possible?0
