My husbands was sent in good time and then he got a letter saying they had not received it. When he rang to say he had posted it back 2 week previous he was told that they are now allowing 42 days from sending out the letter to them getting the completed forms back and scanned onto the system as they had such a backlog.

I agree, but it shouldn't be 10 days.

On my last renewal the form had got held up arriving with me (I think someone must have left it in a filing tray) and whilst I was talking to one of the advisers about time frames for returning, it worked out that I should have sent the form back 5 days before I actually received it for them to get it in time!

Everything worked out in the end, they extended the time and it arrived before the new deadline but if I had not phoned to moan about only giving me a week to fill it in and get it back before the deadline, goodness knows what the outcome would have been.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I phoned today and hopefully it's all sorted. Only 15 minutes on hold and I spoke to someone who was really helpful and explained how much of a backlog there was logging the forms on to the system. He told me that it wasn't added to the system until 4/10, which is ridiculous.

If it had been a new application, rather than being in receipt of DLA, he would have been able to just adjust it. He transferred me to a case manager who was also lovely, and very apologetic, and she said she would send an email immediately to get his DLA reinstated. I have to ring back if it isn't paid and she'll authorise an immediate payment.

My son is very relieved that it's been sorted out, now to just wait for a date for his assessment. I don't think I've ever spoken to anyone at the DWP as helpful as the two people today.
