Yes they do tend to gobble electricity a bit but if you're careful how much you use them (ie only when absolutely necessary) the dent in your purse shouldn't be too bad.
I would always rather hang stuff out anyway, but it's a bit difficult this time of year!! though yu can sometines start stuff off outdoors.
I try to use a clothes horse in the little outhouse where my CH boiler is, so alot of clothes get dried in there in the winter. Bed-clothes and towels are always tumbled this time of year though.:wave:0 -
Some of the cost is offset by the fact that if you get the clothes out of the drier while they are still warm & give a shake & hang them up/fold straight away then you don't have to iron them :T & that saves time & effort.

i do this but my tumble dryer is 1 of those that doesn't need the hose so i only put it on when i feel the need 2 heat the downstairs up a bit ( have only a couple of double glazed windows in my home) instead of puttin the heating on all the time, double benefit, heats home and saves on ironing lol1st son born 11/02/05 2nd son born 09/01/08
thats all i'm adding to the human race so think yourselfs lucky lol0 -
I've got one of those plug in things from Lidls that measures electricity used by an item and I did a 'test' a few weeks back..It actually only used 14p for a load..
(60 minutes on cool setting) Its a C rated white knight one I got from Argos but I thought the same thing about them eating electric until I tested it Hope that helps
