Advice please! Thomas Cook - S75

Hi folks, first time poster here.
We were abroad when Thomas Cook collapsed and we were repatriated by the CAA. Now our credit card provider (Tesco Bank) is claiming you can't claim chargeback or Section 75 if you were on a CAA flight. I personally don't understand this given we had to cut short our holiday, were returned to a different airport, occurred additional expenses, and had a day added to our travel time. Surely we are due some compensation? It just seems like the banks covering themselves. I've seen no legal opinion or Government guidance on it - all they are doing is referring to "UK Finance" which seems to be a trade association rather than a legal body?
Any advice is much appreciated, thank you.

have you put your claim in writing to them?0

Were you on a flight only or package?0

I submitted my section 75 claim after being repatriated and today got a call from Nationwide asking if I had been flown back. I am getting the strongest suspicion that they want to refuse claims based on repatriation.0

There is no claim under S75 if you were flown back to the U.K. free of charge under the CAA repatriation operation.
Some people did have to fly into alternative airports but I understood that coach transportation was provided back to original airports.
At the end of the day the Thomas Cook business failed. There is no one there to pay you compensation for your inconvenience.
It could have been far more costly and you may have incurred lots more inconvenience had the U.K. Government not instructed the CAA to include TC flight only passengers within the repatriation plan. That cost was covered by the U.K. tax payer. Only those on ATOL protected packages and who paid into the scheme would otherwise be covered.0 -
The goods and services I purchased from Thomas Cook were not provided ie: additional extras . I'm well aware that the buisiness I purcahsed these items from has failed therefore my section 75 claim is with my credit card company and not Thomas Cook.0

Is it just the additional extras that you are trying to get back from your card company? or are you trying to get back the full cost of the flights even though you were flown back by the CAA.0 -

I followed Martin's instructions and provided the invoice with the claim form. There was nothing on the form to indicate the amount being claimed and I would assume they work from the invoice.0 -

Now then...I thought everyone was flown back on or as close to their original day of departure as possible? What happened in your case?
You then say you had a holiday cut short but then had a day added on. Which is it?
If you are trying to claim back the cost of the TC flight then you wont be getting much sympathy from anyone I'm afraid.0 -
I suspect we won’t hear from Peanuts3000 again. Looks to be a one post wonder.0
