Where to place 500k+ for safe short term investment

Someone I know is expecting to receive 500k or more shortly from a house sale. They're likely to have it lying around for a couple of months or so before buying another property. Obviously they want to earn some interest but it needs to be rock solid safe and easy to withdraw with say 14 days notice.

Any recommendations?

..no such thing as "short term investment"...stick to banks or NSI, and simply choose those that offer the best rate for instant access, but don't expect to get more than 1-1.5% (if your lucky!)
