Massive gas bill received for alleged energy use over a year ago - HELP!!!
Comments

I'm not sure how Toto have calculated the gas bill - it looks very dodgy in any case.
I've been taking a closer look at the one bill Toto have sent me - Despite having a new smart meter that reads consumption in cubic metres, the crafty burgers have calculated the KWh using cubic feet. So the bill is inflated by 283%.
Checj your meter to see what units it is recording (take a photo), and then take a look at the bill Toto have sent you. If they are pulling the same trick, you have yet another reason to dispute the bill.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Forget the back-billing rule - It only applies when no bill is sent for more than a year and the Customer has tried to get a bill, there is no chance when a customer has failed to register a new occupancy.
So the dwelling had a Metric Smart meter when you moved in, yet Toto have billed on the basis of it being an Imperial meter - 183% overcharge
You need to get a Complaint in letter Fast - Toto are in financial trouble and if and when they go an Administrator will take over, and when it comes to debt these guys play hardball0 -
So you didn't pay your energy supplier for 8 months, then decided to use another supplier and paid them for the previous 8 months' energy that they hadn't supplied?
What did you expect the first supplier to do? Apart from the energy you used, but didn't pay them for, they'll want their standing charges for sure.0
