Height of a sink without a pedestal?

hi

can you tell me if the height of a sink without a pedestal (its the corner small downstairs wc type) should be at a set height? Im buying a new house and the sink in the downstairs toilet looks low to me - but I dont want to appear stupid by mentioning it unless it should be at a set height!

thanks:beer:

Could it be that they've put the sink at a height that is suitable for children to use as well?

4 years ago we bought a new build house and the builder asked at what height we wanted the sinks at. As I am tall and have had back problems I had the sink in my bathroom set at 94cm (rim height) and my wife's bathroom sink is at 88cm. Hope this helps

  • Hi

If you look at bathroom catalogues pedestal basins are around 800 to 850mm high to the front edge.
Having a wall mounted one means you can adjust it to suit the home owner.(as above)

wow you have a bathroom each! This is a question I've been meaning to ask for a while. I'm also replacing my bathroom and kitchen and being 6'4" I find what I currently have too low and end up splashing lots of water everywhere as a result. My bathroom sink which is on a pedestal is 60cm to the top of the plug and 76cm high to the rim. This is way too low even for average sized person and when I install my new bathroom I will be putting them higher so will be interested on the comments on this thread.
    Cheers

  • Im hoping its not set for children (even though I have one small one) - Im only 5ft 3 and I feel like I need to stoop to reach it, so no idea how anyone over 6ft (and I have a lot of friends and family who are over 6ft) will feel!

I will measure my existing one, then take a tape down when I visit the house on wednesday and measure it. Definately no-one has asked me about the heights of the various sinks - I didnt even give it a thought!

    Hello iwilldoitthistime,
Don't forget the height of the kitchen. Ours, including the worktop is 90cm. By the way when I say tall I mean I am 6 foot and my wife is 5 foot 8.
