Energy Company Sending Debt Collectors
Comments
-
I heard back from my complaint I raised with the ICO.
The debt collection people at Spark have offered me £50 and ensured me that they've finally rectified the issue. Where have I heard that before?
Either way, hours and hours and hours of my time is worth more than £50. They asked me if I accept this and how to pay. I've said that my time is worth more than that and that they can do better than £50.
Any advice?0 -
Send them an invoice for your time and trouble and make a claim if they don't pay. Make it reasonable so that if it goes to the small claims court (and they bother to turn up) the judge can just rubber stamp it.
Perhaps quote the hourly rate of your local plumber and add £50 for all the hassle?0 -

I've said £20 an hour for 30 hours is £600, plus I used my solicitor.
A plumber would be about £50 an hour wouldn't they?0 -

They replied asking for invoices from solicitor.
I refused and said that I'm done with scanning stuff and sending emails. Done enough of that. Hours of it over the last year, to rectify their mistake.
I said... Despite what you say, you don't care about me or want to fix this. If you did, it wouldn't have come to me reporting you to the ICO for breaking GDPR law. What you actually want is for this to go away.
You have a reasonable recommendation on what my time is worth in the email above.0 -

They replied again asking for solicitors invoices.
I refused again, and stated the price.
I'm not budging.0 -
Again, they've said "provide invoices and we can reimburse you.
I've told them to forget about the legal fees and that I want reimbursement for my time.
Once again, with this awful company it's like banging my head against a brick wall.0 -
They offered me £150 a couple of times, which I turned down every time, and stated £600.
Now they've offered me £250, which I've turned down and stated £620 (it's been an extra hour sending all these emails)
They'll get there eventually, but why bother wasting their own time?0 -
Perhaps the way that you are approaching this is having some impact on the results you are not getting.
Being obstructive won't help your case.0 -
