I bought into the marketing hype of Megaflo. I wouldn't bother - there are cheaper alternatives, which are just as good. Megaflo market their internal baffle, negating the need for an expansion vessel, as a positive. In reality, it just needs recharging far too often and reduces the capacity of the tank.

If I was buying again, I'd go for a Joule.
    vented or unvented?

OP you have a thermal store if that helps your search & choice

Yes, I know the pulsacoil is a thermal store but I am trying to establish whether it is better to replace with a vented or unvented since the Gledhill did not last long.

Vented won't give you mains pressure hot water that you have now.
Unvented won't give you instantly hot rads like the thermal store does now.
Will your heating system be ok for being pressurised without leaking ?

My current cylinder is vented and the pressure is/was fine. I only need the water cylinder to heat water, my heating system is storage heaters.

How often do you find you have to recharge the tank? What happens if you do not recharge the tank?
