Worecster Greenstar Style Gr8700iw Boiler making filling noise

Hi All,

We have moved in our new house and replaced the system boiler with the combi boiler.

The cold water tank in the loft was removed and the cylinder in the the main bedroom cupboard was also removed and new New Worcester Greenstar Style Gr8700iw was installed, by the gas safe engineer.

The old boiler was installed in the kitchedn and the new boiler in installed in the same location.

I have no idea as he gave me a discount of £50 and said that he has used the old flue, I paid hm £2800.00 for removal of the old system and the installtion of the new Combi Boiler + Hive Control. ( Is the price paid OK for the job done or its too much). Now we dont have any storage tank / cylinder now

He is on holidays for two weeks and what I have notived is that when we use the hot water either in kitchen / bathroom and we turn off the hot water , we feel the noise as something is filling and have no idea whats that.

I have looked at the pressure on the boiler and its steady at 1.5

This filling noise is not heard when we turn the heating on.

Please can someone help me with what can be the cause of that strange filling noise or is it normal for the central heating system (using combi boilers ) to make a filling noise once hot water is turned off.

Suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

The pump & fan will carry on after the hot water is turned off & that's probably what you can hear.
A bit late now to ask if the quote was good or not, didn't you get more than one quote ?
Are you sure he didn't say he was using the old flue hole ? As he should not have used the old flue
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

I get few quotes in the same range £2800¬£3250 and he was the lowest.

Initially he quoted me £2850 but when I paid he said that he has used the old flue as it was OK and said i will reduce the price by £50.

For the noise is there anything that can be done as I have used Combi boilers 24 Juinior and it never made that sound like some tank is filing even after the hot water tap has been closed

    Thanks again.

    Bit more info please:-
Does the filling sound occur when you turn the heating OFF ? or is it just associated with the hot water?

How long does the sound continue, seconds or minutes ? Is the length of sound constant every time you run the hot water

Is the sound actually coming from the boiler installation, you've actually stood by the boiler and tried to identify where sound originates

Filling sound only comes when we open hot water (kitchen sink tap, bath sink tap, bath tub shower/tap)

I have tried to time it I opened the kitchen tap for 10 seconds and the filling sound lasted approx 120 sec

Then after few minutes I opened the tap for washing utensils and then it lasted 95 seconds.

Our main bedrrom is above the kitchen and we the sound gets loud in the bedroom.

That sound is driving me crazy and am much worried as we have got all the new carpets fitted upstairs and new amtico flooring downstairs.

    Suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Have a look at the manual for the boiler and see if there is a pre-heat option. This could be what is causing the boiler to keep running after you have turned off the demand. It is done so that hot water is immediately available rather then waiting for it to heated up from cold.

    I have tried both

Preheat On ( Kitchen sink tap on for 30 seconds - Filling sound can be heard for about 95~100 seconds)

Preheat Off (Kitchen sink tap on for 30 seconds- Filling sound can be heard for about 95~100 seconds)

Hot water doest not come sintanstly , it takes some time , When I opened the tap for 30 seconds first 6-8 seconds was cold and then it started to become warm amd then hot.

In both the situations preheat on and off it wuas pretty much the same.

    Any more suggestions?
