Damaged Car Seat

Can I get some advice on what I can and can’t do regarding a damaged car seat
Order car seat in store in Dec with delivery in May. We also purchased the adapters to be able to put the car seat on to the pram chassis
On the second time of doing this the adapters would not release from the base of the car seat. We tried a couple of times to release the seat with not luck. We managed to get the adapters off the chassis and when we turned the seat over the clip had snapped on the inside of the seat trapping the adapter we were able to move the piece and managed to get it free.
We went back to the shop we purchased the seat from and they are in communication with the manufacturer. I have a feeling they are going to be difficult about it what can I realistically go back to them with if they refuse to do anything?
TIA
