Replacing Plastic Toilet Cistern

Did he say why it would go wrong in 6 months time?
Just because it was an old cistern.
Because it's got a shelf on it, I haven't been able to look directly down into it and I always thought it was old and limescaley, but I got the old iPhone on it yesterday taking pictures and it's not that bad, just the thing that's going wrong (if I have the right thing, the valve pulley thing) that is limescaley. I mean, a plastic bucket (which is essentially what the cistern is, right?) looks fine.
I think it's just the way he went from £365 and me not jumping at the price... to suddenly knocking £100 off this if he could get a cheaper cistern... to then saying he could just replace this one part... which the plumber that actually came out said was what he recommended anyways is what's put me off.
The old me would just have gone for it, but I can live with a non flushing toilet for a while, haha. I just pour water in the cistern.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
