Moving into 1st property in the next week or so, who is best for gas and leccy...? Would it be easier to be on meters for a while or to have a bill each month/quater...?!

Meters are a more expensive way of paying for your utilities. Monthly/quarterly billing is the cheapest option. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
If it is a brand new property you will need to establish who the builder dealt with for the initial contracted supplies, you will then need to find out what your usage is before you are able to compare prices properly, you could use a price comparison site to see if they can find a cheaper supplier but as you will have no figures to input it will be difficult.
If it is an older property that you are buying from someone, again find out who the supplier is as you will inherit them, you could be cheeky and ask the outgoing owners what they were paying each month/quarter and that would give you a starting point for comparison.
Remember to take a note of and phone in your readings on the day you take possesion of the keys as that is when you become resposible for the supply.0 -
Good advice from Tobrex, not much else to say except - the attached link will help you find out your Suppliers (MPAN tab is for elec, MPRN tab is for gas)
http://www.energylinx.co.uk/mpan_request.htm
If you are asking the current owner about usage, ask them for the 1st 2 digits of the supply number (which is yours when you take legal ownership anyway) so you can check who your Supplier is for elec on this link.
You will still have a meter, you will just get a bill with the option to pay quarterley or by DD rather than pay as you go basis on PP. You will also be able to look at getting duel fuel & DD discounts which may help you.
You usually pay more anyway on PP so it's not recommended.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
