Hotel resort fee

Looking for advice please.....
We have been charged a hotel resort fee.
We booked our holiday Feb 2019 and have a printed itinerary with the date 4/2/1019 along the bottom of the page.
In the section title Additional Hotel services, there are details of any fees. It states that ‘ The charges below are included in your overall room price: Resort fee.
We booked this, the hotel and car hire with Expedia.
Upon check in and checking out there was no mention of any supplementary fees or resort fees.
Our credit card statement recently received shows that the hotel has taken $300 for resort and cleaning fees.
Through emails, they have said that they have always collected these fees. We have stayed with them on 4 previous occasions and have never paid them.
They also stated that their contract with Expedia changed June 2019 and as such Expedia should have informed us. They did not.
I have emailed Expedia who have said that this needs to be paid and have sent me a copy of an itinerary with these fees on the details.
I can only assume that they are sending an updated version ie after June 2019.
As far as I’m concerned I’ve bought and paid for the holiday under the original amount. We paid £1573.05 for hotel and car hire ( inclusive of fees). We are aware that hotels do charge resort fees but when searching for holidays we make sure that we cost these into our final price, knowing that we have to pay upon check out.
My question is
Should I have to pay these fees?
Am I right in saying that Expedia should be paying them as part of this holiday contract?
Who should be refunding me? Both the hotel and Expedia are refusing at the moment.
Am I able to use ‘disputed entry ‘ on my credit card as it certainly seems I’m paying twice.
It seems that Expedia have pocketed the resort fee as they know that these fees are now payable locally from June 2019.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

If your contract states that resort fees are included in the room rate then you should not have to pay an additional charge. If the company you booked through provided incorrect information then they should be the ones to pay it, not you.0

Agree with the above. If Expedia provided you with the wrong information, and you have proof of this, then make them refund you.
It doesn’t matter if the information has changed and that they’ve since updated it, your contract was based on the information you were given.
Make a formal complaint with Expedia. If that goes nowhere then raise it with your card provider. If that goes nowhere then small claims court0
