Sky TV Problems...

We are having trouble with Sky reception and occasionally the dreaded 'no signal being received' has appeared on clear day (ie. no rain).

I called Sky today and they informed us that an engineer can be arranged but as our Sky box is out of warranty (had it about 7 years) we have to pay a £65 fee!!! I told the man at the other end of the phone this was outragous as we pay them so much a month and as soon as it goes wrong we have to pay.

The Sky-guy recommend we write a letter to customer services and complain about this fee as we have been a long-term customer. So I am now going to wait for the engineer to come on Wednesday morning and see what he has to say, then write a letter of complaint to Sky to see if the £65 will be reimburshed.

I did ask the Sky-Guy if a free Sky+ box would fix the problem if it was the Skybox playing up, his reply - ask sales department!

So has anybody else been in this situation and what was the outcome?

I will update this thread come wednesday...

Definitely agree, I had the same issue with Sky.

When I called up and got the £65 speech, I asked to cancel immediately and was then put through to Cancellations who offered me a free Sky+ box not to cancel.

My Sky+ box was installed 3 days later :j

Dan, I would actually suggest ringing up to cancel the service call, tell them Virgin have offered you a free V+ box so you dont want to waste money having the Sky box repaired. They will offer you a deal to keep you.
