As an update to my post above about buying a flyaway ticket online from Metrolink, I spoke to Amex and they've advised me to change my account address to a US address while travelling in the USA, then back to my UK address when I get home.

Amex used to offer first rate customer service. Unfortunately, around half of UK calls are now handled from the Philippines. The Filipino staff are polite, friendly, and utterly useless. When I call Amex and get through to Manilla, I HUACA until I get through to Brighton.

(Which reminds me, I need to call them now, as a chat conversation from two weeks ago has not been actioned.)

Tandem is a good alternative to Halifax's Clarity - plus you get 0.5% cashback. :)

Tandem cashback is ending in March. Plus they want to charge you £5.99 a month for the pleasure.

The Tandem Cashback card has not been available to new customers since 6 December.

I hope they reeducate the rep that gave that shocking piece of stupid advice.....

Just go into the shop to pay for fuel before filling up. No zipcode needed. Done it loads of times in the US.
