Hello all, been quoted 2500 for 52 feet of iron railings and 9ft wide driveway gates painted in red oxide and finished in Matt black, all 5ft high.
Is this expensive?

sounds cheap to me, I wouldn't make them for that, however I packed up domestic work decades ago for that very reason.
However no way would I install painted railings there ALWAYS rust spot around any non fill welds and hinge points etc..... Galvanise and powder coat them and you wont be chasing the rust every few years.0 -
I think this sounds incredibly cheap....have you checked out the firms previous work for quality?0

Is this for the painting of existing railings, gates?0

Most likely at that price a setup sole trader, working from there garage, G&R is bottom rung of the fabrication game and reward is low...… Not saying though there's anything wrong with the work though plenty of people can knock a decent set of gates up with a few fixtures and kit, places like Brundles virtually sell everything kit form just add weld.... But I would ask for a portfolio anyone with pride will have pictures galore.0 -

Sounds like a good quote.... Have you seen their previous work? Have you spoke to previous happy customers? Do they have a landline and are a registered company? Have they been recommended from people you know? Any upfront payments required?
We went for Galvanized, rather than red oxide.
Hope all goes well.
