Will my hp 640 printer compatible with windows 10?

I am going to have a go at upgrading from windows 7 to 10. I believe it is still free to upgrade. I am going to choose the easier option and a bit concerned whether my ancient hp printer will still work as have just bought new sets of cartridges from eBay. Thanks

You need to Google your particular printer and Windows 10 1903. There are loads of old HP printers that have fallen down after the 1903 update, some it seems can be sorted and others not. My HP printer comes up as compatible on the HP supplied list but it does not work after 1903. I managed to sell my new carts on Ebay for more than I paid for them so helped subsidise my new Canon a little ;)

And if you believe that ........ ;)

And it looks like the latest update, KB4517211, breaks even more printers.

In all honesty the only way you are going to find out is by updating and seeing if it works. Mine worked fine up until 1903.

So you aren't going to bother to buy a new PC nor to swap to a solid state drive?

I recommend that you fit the SSD and install Windows 10 Pro to it. That way you will be free to fall back at any time to your original Windows 7 installation, as it will remain untouched.

AFAIK Neil Jones is right, this is the HP website and here are the 640c downloads, scroll down to 640C: -

EDIT: if the downloads don't work, and you cannot get your printer working on 10, resell your cartridges. Probably better resold on local Facebook Marketplace.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
