comments on another post about robin hood power , brought up this

Robin Hood Energy, the energy supplier owned by Nottingham city council, has failed to pass on £9.5m in renewable energy subsidies after collecting them from customers through their bills.

The supplier has already claimed the sum from its customers, to be used to support renewable energy projects, but missed the deadline to pay its share of the money to the industry regulator, Ofgem last month.

Ofgem has said the troubled energy supplier could have its supply licence revoked if it fails to pay by the end of October.

In total, four of the energy suppliers - Delta Gas and Power, Gnergy, Toto Energy and Robin Hood - could lose their licences if they fail to pay a total of £14.7m to the government’s renewable support scheme.

Do I start a move to another supplier?

Or will my £180 credit balance be floating in the "ether" if they collapse before it goes through and OFGEM appoint another supplier?

Robin Hood Energy, A not for profit company - certainly got that right ! The council are already under scrutiny for their involvement and throwing more council taxpayer's money at it is not likely to be an option.

They get bailed out by the all other energy suppliers. which disproportionately impacts the other small suppliers, its not a big amount int the scheme of things but still its not exactly fair on them.

IMO opinion it should be picked up by Ofgem for granting so many new licenses. Exactly the same thing happened 10 years ago, wholesale prices crashed loads of new suppliers entered the market and the majority went bust in a few years.
