Radiator Help/Advice

Hello all

So throughout my house i have the hive smart TRV’S on every radiator apart from my bathroom towel radiator.

The heating of the house works well on the hive system, however i find the bathroom gets to hot and am wanting some advice on how to turn the towel radiator down to save money.

The towel rail itself is linked i to the central heating. With 2 chrome straight valves on each side that twist each direction purchased from Screwfix.

Could someone let me know how to adjust these to save money and delay the heating of the towel rail :)

Many Thanks in advance

You could screw down one of the valves to restrict the flow but what you need is a thermostatic valve in place of one of the screwdown valves.

Adjust the lockshield valve for a 12°C difference between the inlet & outlet of the radiator. At least one radiator in the system should NOT be fitted with a thermostatic valve (unless a bypass valve is fitted). Also, the radiator closest to the thermostat is not normally fitted with a thermostatic valve.

Op states they have two screw down valves so they will have to work out which ones the feed or return, as far as I'm aware the lock shield valve should be fitted on the return.

I don't think the normal rules about lockshield apply to towel radiators. Appearance seems to be the main requirement. My towel rail/radiator has two very pretty, but identical, chrome valves so I don't have a clue which is flow or return.

Just put a load of towels on it! Return is always cooler, obviously. They should not be restricted, so I'm told, unless their is 1 other rad not restricted.
