British Gas Energy Plus Protection Green
Hello,
I switched to this tariff in part because it was described on moneysavingexpert (and still is) as 100% renewable electricity. It is not. British Gas give the following figures:
Coal 7%
Natural Gas 35%
Nuclear 10%
Renewables 46%
Other 2%
MSE directed me to this page moneysavingexpert dot com / tips / 15-05-2019.
In this article MSE use the term "green" to mean 100% renewable. BG use the term "green" to mean mixed source electricity with carbon offsetting by purchasing certificates which is a very different thing. Perhaps MSE have taken BG's description of the tariff as green and translated it into their own interpretation of green.
I complained to BG that their own description is misleading as well and they have agreed to release me from the contract without exit fees citing incorrect information supplied by them.
