Shut up Android

I am having a weird problem with my recently rebuilt Samsung Galaxy TAB4 running Android 5.1 - in that whenever I switch it on - it makes the Samsung start-up noise at full blast - I have set the volume on all options to zero and it remains zero - but still I get the annoying sound !
It didn't do this prior to rebuilding

I have gone through the audio options and found nothing relevant
Is there some way of completely silencing it - without downloading a 3rd party utility or a hammer ?

This is pretty common for most Android phones in my experience. If you put the phone on silent and then restart it may silence it. Startup tones are not regulated by the audio settings.

How have you rebuilt it, through resetting? Or have you custom flashed it?

I reset it - but it didn't do this previously
I guess I will have to try "Silent Boot"

What did you rebuild ??
If its rooted you can delete the startup sounds ogg files .

the sounds may get put back automatically

As root I renamed the camera shutter sound on mine, but it still came back, and back again a second time. unsure how long it took, but straight afterwards there was no sound. A few days later there was sound. Gave up after the second time
