Halifax bank account opened...not me?!

Just had a text from an old flatmate (lived with him about 5 years ago). He’s just received a bank card in the post for myself.

I don’t have a Halifax bank account...I did but closed it years ago...

What’s going on?

What did Halifax say when you called them?

I’ve only just found out so can’t call until tomorrow.

If they've sent you a card they must think you're an existing customer. According to their website existing customers can call up to 11pm.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve called them.

The account wasn’t closed for whatever reason. Closed that and a joint account back in 2014 but they only processed the joint account. No activity, so have cancelled the card and need to go to a branch to close it down.

Good job my old flatmate still lived there...
