Travel insurance pre existing medical problems

Been trying to find travel insurance for our first proper holiday in 10 years.
trouble is, the way the questions are asked, it makes things look much worse than they are.
For example, back pain, "has this condition affected your ability to wash, dress or feed yourself?" and I answer yes because I can't put socks on or tie shoe laces (hence wear crocs all the time).
I expected my quote to be high, but the quotes I've got for cover are much higher than i thought.
Allclear- £761 (when I said that's high, said £645 if i bought it there and then)
Direct line £676 but wont cover anything heart related for either of us
Travelinsurance4medical £639 (seemed to take the most details down)
Coop £588 but didn't want to know about my cfs/me and a few other things that all the others all wanted to know about.
I've done some experiments, and the thing that's causing it to be so high is my hiatus hernia
I had an operation that was a complete success.
However, I have been on anti sickness tablets since before the op and I still have to take them as I'm nauseous daily.
I also have something called Dysphagia, where if I eat certain foods, sometimes they get stuck on the way down (not in the throat) that I've been told is more than likely due to damage when I had the acid reflux.
So, Online with Staysure, putting in that I've had surgery to fix it and have no ongoing complications, the quote is just £410
Choosing the option that says I've had surgery but still have complications, raises it from £410 to £670
I don't have complications as such, Dysphagia is a result of years of acid reflux and nauseousness has been going on decades. The actual operation was a huge success.
However, none of the companies have options to put in sickness or
Dysphagia as separate things. They have travel sickness etc, but mine is permanent sickness (fell sick all the time)
Any experts got any advice please? £410 is affordable, £670 isn't

The way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

Further update.
I've been told there's zero complications with my Hernia operation, I had a endoscopy in August and it was perfect.
My Dysphagia and nauseousness are caused by acid re-flux, nothing to do with complications with my hernia op.
I phoned Travelinsurance4medical, they added acid re-flux, changed my op to no complications, and the price dropped from £639 to £307
Very very happy.
It's so easy to get this stuff wrong. I suffered severe acid re-flux, and the hernia operation fixed most of it, hence I thought as I still have sickness etc, the hernia op still caused complications, when the reality is, the hernia op was 100% successful and I still have a bit of acid re-flux.
So glad I checkedThe way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

Are you aware that Travelinsurance4medical are part of the TIF Group? I would suggest reading the separate thread about them on this forum.0

Many many many many thanks for that Luci, I was not aware, was going to buy in the morning, I wont be using them now,.
Anyone know of a decent travel insurance company I can trust for the USA with pre-existing conditions? Are co-op OK?
Travelinsurance4medical, all clear, saga and staysure are all sort of recommended on the British heart foundation web site, which is why I tried them. The way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

You're very welcome. I'm so glad you saw my post before buying as it wasn't clear from your post and actually looked like you had.
Do you have a packaged bank account with insurance included? Have you tried the MSE info?
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/pre-existing-travel-insurance/?_ga=2.186352361.1701565541.1570046889-439271846.1557858926#step1
I'm also looking for worldwide insurance to include medical conditions. I've just tried Medical Travel Compared suggested by MSE. Many of the companies that appeared in the results are members of the TIF Group. However I got a decent quote from Top Dog so am considering them. Someone we met on a cruise had a medical issue when we were away and they paid his claim no problem.0 -

Thankfully all my savings are in places I can't touch instantly, and on Wednesday I spoke to the guy and said I would buy it on Thursday when funds are available (don't have credit cards), he said he wasn't in Thursday but was back Friday, I said I would leave it until Friday then and speak to him directly.
Glad he had Thursday offThe way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

Have you tried Aviva, LV= or ETA www.eta.co.uk ? Not recommendations, just some companies I am looking into.0 -
Hello Luci,
I am afraid Topdog is also a tifgroup policy. They use Emergency Assistance Facilities or known as EAF on theTopdog policy and this forum. The director or EAF is also the CEO of tifgroup and I think from the forums that the medical director or EAF is the one being investigated by the GMC and FCA.
They are everywhere ...cheap...but.....
I read the Top Dog policy wording after posting here, and before I saw your reply. I didn't like what I saw, and that was without knowing they were linked to the TIF Group. The policy wording actually states:-Significant or unusual exclusions or limitations
I mentioned considering Globelink in another thread. I checked their policy wording and their claims are handled by Rightpath Claims so checked reviews of them. Oh dear. Overall rating of 1.1 stars on more than one review site.
It is shocking that 7 of the top rated companies on the first page on Trustpilot are part of the TIF Group with 5 star reviews based solely on buying the policy, not claiming.Union Reiseversicherung AG is authorised in Germany by BaFin and regulated in the United Kingdom by the Financial Conduct Authority
Do you have any comments or input on Aviva, LV= or ETA? I haven't looked at LV yet, but the other two are looking promising so far.0 -
How do I find if someone is part of the Tif group?
Allclear or Staysure for example
Saga wants £825, simply can't afford that, would have to not go on holiday. The way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

tifgroup is short for Travel Insurance Facilities
https://www.tifgroup.co.uk/
Their Clients are here, but I'm sure not all of them are on this page as travelinsurance4medical isn't listed.
https://www.tifgroup.co.uk/about/clients/
Their assistance company has also been mentioned - EAF or Emergency Assistance Facilities
http://www.rothwellandtowler.com/brands.aspxBrilliant value cover for worldwide travel from WORLD FIRST
Travel cover for medical conditions from TRAVEL INSURANCE 4 MEDICAL
Practical cover without blowing the budget from TRAVEL INSURANCE SAVER
Cover for UK holidays, getaways and the cost of course fees from GUEST FIRSTWith that in mind, whenever you buy a policy from us it will be underwritten by Travel Insurance Facilities Group and insured by Union Reiseversicherung AG (URV), part of Germany's largest banking group, Versicherungskammer Bayern Group (VKB Group).
I haven't looked into All Clear, but there was something I read, can't remember what, that made me put them on the back burner for now.0
