EON Economy 10

I have just received a notification of my latest tarif through EON. Each charge (Standing Charge, Day Rate and Night Rate) has increased by 50%. I phoned to ask if there was a cheaper tarif and I was told to go online and I would find a cheaper Economy 10 tarif. I could not find anything about Economy 10 online on the Eon website. Has anyone found a cheap Economy 10 tarif through Eon. If the Eon rep has any advice I would be grateful.

As far as I know they only have one Economy 10 tariff. I'm confused as to why yours is going up as it's a variable rate tariff so I'd expect it to come down tomorrow in line with the price cap.

I'm wondering if you've been on an old Economy 10 tariff that E.ON have now withdrawn. What are your current prices and what are they changing to?

Out of interest I've just checked their standard Economy 7 prices and they're considerably more than your current tariff. I'd expect Economy 10 to be a bit more expensive so I do think you've been on an old tariff by mistake.

It might be worth contacting some.of the smaller suppliers to see if they'll allow you to switch over to them on an Economy 7 tariff as I doubt very many suppliers will have an Economy 10 tariff.

Perhaps you should have paid more attention in your sums classes

Centage You are correct, not 50%, two are well over 40% and one is 20%. The one I paid most attention to, the night rate for the storage heaters and hot water has gone up 47%. Which I think is quite a jump.

Hello anneliza and I'm sorry you were sent online to find alternatives for your Economy 10 tariff. This was the wrong advice.

As stewie_griffin says, you've been on an old tariff which is no longer available. We're currently reviewing metering set-ups like yours as we look to phase out certain arrangements. This is being looked after by our specialist Simpler Metering team and these are the best advisors to talk to. They'll go through the options available including letting you know the unit prices and daily standing charges for your area.

Depending on the circumstances at the property, these options might include an updated Economy 10 meter, an Economy 7 or single rate meter. There's no charge to change meters under the Simpler Metering project.

Like now, a new Economy 10 meter will be wired into the heating/hot water circuits so it can turn the connected heating on and off at the set off-peak times.

Stewie_griffin is right and we've a limited range of tariff options for Economy 10 meters so it might benefit you to have an Economy 7 or single rate meter. This will give you a choice of more tariffs both with us and with the other suppliers. Our Simpler Metering team will go through any implications changing the meter might have on your heating.

Sorry again for the poor advice when you phoned anneliza and hope this points you in the right direction.
