Renting - No working shower in property

So was I. Nothing wrong with flannel washing. We do generally have washing machines and hopefully the ability to afford more than one wash cloth.0

I'm younger than you, born in the 70s. Showers were more-or-less unknown until I went to Uni in the late 80s - baths were the norm (and my mother still does that), and definitely not every day. Even in the uni halls of residence, there were no ensuites, just cubicles with bogs, cubicles with sinks, cubicles with bathtubs at the end of the floors.lookstraightahead wrote: »Omg flannel washing in 2019. Really it's not very hygienic.
For a shower, we put these on the bath taps...

It might not be very pleasant but it’s hardly unhygienic.0 -

LOL I flannel wash every day and I haven't been ill in around 5 years. I have a good old soak in the bath once a week too to get the ingrained dirt out. This is mainly because our shower is in the ensuite and husband works totally different hours from me so flannel washing is handier. Its still soap and water so how is it unhygienic?
That's not to say if I was renting I wouldn't want a working shower, I would if I was paying for it. It doesn't sound like you have had any dealings with the actual landlord. You do have an address? Do you have a phone number? If not get down to the letting agents with the threat of EH and as a matter of urgency get them to contact the landlord while you are there. I would probably call EH anyway as it has been going on for so long, just to get a definite answer about habitability during the repairs.0 -
What do you think a bedbath is that those nice nurses (well, nowadays it's a 'care assistant') give you in hospital....?lookstraightahead wrote: »Omg flannel washing in 2019.
