Amex - pending transaction disappeared

Purchased items off amazon roughly £400
Used Amex to pay, logged in could see payment pending, remained like this for a good few days, logged in today and the pending transaction has completed vanished and shows £0 balance


My items arrived today though and no issues on amazon

The pending transaction has disappeared because Amazon have not yet submitted the charge to Amex so it has dropped off. Amazon will submit the charge in due course (can't comment on why the delay) and your card will be debited at some point, probably quite soon. Don't worry about it.

If a pending transaction hasn't been called-in for something like a week or ten days, it will disappear from the listing. But only the listing that is, the request can arrive any day and will be paid instantly, the authorisation still stands.

There has probably a delay somewhere, but like the proverbial bad penny the transaction will turn up eventually within the next six years. (Although after six months you ought to be advised before payment is take.)
