First Credit Card

I have a couple of big outgoings coming up, namely a wedding and honeymoon.
I have the cash to fund these, however I was thinking about the best way to pay.
I am tempted to get a credit card the added protection I've heard it offers.
I've been reading around and I think a cashback card sounds the most suitable, probably the Aqua Reward.
Does this sound a wise move?
I've never had a credit card before. My clearscore rating is 418.
Thanks!

You'll struggle to get a decent card with a thin credit file. Ignore your Clearscore rating. It's not used in credit risk assessment.
The aqua reward is more likely to accept you than others, but you'll get a low limit which may restrict you. However, it may be enough for you to place deposits, which will give you the protection you're looking for.0 -
I'm happy to only pay part on the credit card if that's all I need to do to get the protection.
I fully intend to pay the balance each month, so the high APR doesn't bother me.
No foreign fees will be a bonus for the honeymoon too.
I think i'll go for that unless i've missed something?0
