Nationwide Referral Bonus "issues"

Waste of Time this Nationwide scheme I feel it is a complete sham.
First time I referred a friend the email link they got sent didnt work so we rang the support line where a new link was generated and then emailed out. Which worked. However Nationwide said we werent entiled to the reward as the orginal link generated wasnt used.
The Second referral they only transferred 1 of the direct debit. As we then had to re-set up the 2nd direct Debit Nationwide have classed it as a New Direct Debit so again refused the reward again.
The to and fro with the support team has so far gone nowhere. Complete waste of time, it feels to me to be a borderline of a scam, and anyway the whole experience and dealing witht the customer support has just been generally unpleasant! (Needless to say I have closed my account with them)

I think you've been unlucky to have had a bad experience. From what I can tell on here and from personal experience, by bonus came in one week after the switch, which is super fast.0

To mis-quote Oscar Wilde - To lose out once may be regarded as a misfortune, to lose both times looks like conspiracy.
My frustration was the lack of helpful insight and numerous chasing and querying calls we had to do trying to get to the bottom of it.
Both signups were within my family so we had complete oversight of all the information provided.
The biggest issue was mainly the constant road blocks being thrown up by Nationwide. If one of the support team took an extra 5 minutes to resolve and not fob off would of had a different out come.0 -
I had no problems and I know others who've used received the referral bonus without problems. What are you doing wrong?0
