Quite the poor Central Processing Unit in that laptop.

It must be painfully slow.
You can mitigate that pain by swapping the equally slow magnetic spinning hard drive within, for a much faster, solid state version.
It is easy to swap to a solid state drive, as there is a dedicated hatch on the underside of the laptop. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MyMemory-Boost-Internal-SSD-Hard-Drive-2-5-SATA-III-120GB-560MB-s-New-UK/372725272585
You will pay at least £30 for a battery for the thing. I would not bother with a new battery. You still won't get much battery time from it.
Here is an example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14-8v-2-2Ah-Battery-For-Advent-140-4S2200-M1A2-140-4S2200-G1L3-140-4S2200-C1L3-/2520931332630 -
Hi EW
Thank you, I really don't have any knowledge about computers, so, at the moment, I only use the laptop with the charger plugged in & connected to the mains, the battery doesn't seem to charge tho.
If follow your advice below, would I not need a battery?
How simple is it to replace the Memory-Boost-Internal-SSD
I could buy a replacement battery just to keep it simple for me.EveryWhere wrote: »You can mitigate that pain by swapping the equally slow magnetic spinning hard drive within, for a much faster, solid state version.

The battery would be a waste of money in my opinion. Better to put that money into buying a better second user laptop.
There is nothing difficult about swapping the drive. But if it is your first time, everything might seem daunting. Though only because it is completely new.
Will guide you through the process if you decide you want to give it a try. Will take you no more than ten minutes to swap the drive over.
Swapping to a solid state drive will make it feel like a completely new laptop. but that is as much as I would spend on that device.
Any more and you would be better off putting it towards something better.
It's a shame that you aren't a tinkerer, because those models are very user friendly.
Even a novice can upgrade the CPU in that device, as long as they are not afraid to try it.

Simply put, the two things that make your device somewhat sluggish are the ten year old single core Celeron CPU and the magnetic spinning disc storage(HDD).
At the moment, you wait ages for the device to fully load in so you can use it. Then,, trying to do more than one thing at a time results in a sluggish experience.
Fitting a dual core CPU and a solid state drive eliminates those bottlenecks. Laptop fully and ready for use in seconds, not minutes.
So for under £30, you'll have a much better general purpose device.0 -
But, as stated above, if a battery is all that you want, expect to pay £30 to £40 for it. Not good.

No attractive battery options.0 -
Thank you EW
I only use the laptop for browsing / emails, I don't do games and very little downloading.

This'll be my 1st time trying something like this, I'll take your advice and come for instructions how to change once I get the SSD as per your link above0 -
Are you running Windows 7 or Windows 10?
Are you happy to start afresh with a clean install of the operating system?0 -

All explained in post #5. If you'd like to speed things up.
If not, you can spend £30 to £40 on another battery if that it what you want. In my opinion, that would not be a sensible purchase. £10, perhaps. £40, definitely not.0 -

Thanks EW, right at this moment in time, spending £10.00 on a replacement battery is probably my best option0
