O/S Daily Monday 30 September 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here.
Damp, cool and blustery start to the day here, damp underfoot and more rain forecast for the coming days.
Yesterday we had full english before going to visit DH's grandad, he was pleased to see us and we spent a while with him. Once we got home we just chilled, watched some catchup tv, I organised the pack ups etc, and then cooked enchilades, savory rice and a small pasta dish, all enjoyed. Tonight we'll be having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Back to work today for me, not sure how it's going to be, but we have a colleague on 2 weeks holiday, so we'll see how that works out. They do try to make up that person's hours but everyone works different hours so it's not always possible, we'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A fine day ahead for us but the blooming rain is due back again this evening.
Today is not going to be a good day for me. If life had treated us differently today would have been our 47th wedding anniversary and my mind keeps going back to last year at this time whilst we were at the hospice. DD made it as nice a day as she could for us bless her. She is working today but she came yesterday with a lovely card for me and a pretty pink Lisianthus in a pot.
Seeing as a decent day is forecast I think I might take myself off on the bus up the valley bottom to a small town further along to take my mind off things. There are a couple of bargainous grocery shops and charity shops to poke around in. And a big Laura Ashley if I fancy an upmarket browse.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Thinking of TAFF and hope all is going as well as it can. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
I’m going to get the train to the next town this morning to have a look around the shops, they have much more choice than here and I need a couple of things for the house. While I’m there I am going to meet up with someone who volunteers with me for a coffee and a bit of people watching
Depending on what time I get home I want to sort out one of the freezers outside. I need an up to date inventory on what is in there because I haven’t got any idea.
Enjoy your day out as much as you can as well TA. x
Thinking of you and your family Taff.
Csarina have a good holiday.
Sorry to hear about your father in law Molly
I hope that you all have a good day xx0 -
Morning folks.
Just dropped in to send a hug to TA. I remember your post from this time last year and how much you and Bob enjoyed it. Hold those memories.
More later. Meanwhile, happy Monday to all.0 -
Good morning and a happy Monday one and all,
I enjoyed my weekend. It felt like I didn't do much, probably because it's true. Aside from my standard things (gym, yoga, grocery shopping, tidying up), I mostly took the time to chill out. I even watched a movie for the first time in donkeys! The upside of which is that I don't spend.
I've a relatively busy week ahead, with something happening most evenings, which in turn means I need to leave work on time, give or take. Today is my typical Monday. I've been to the gym this morning, I'll leave quite sharp, home for dinner then to yoga for 90 minutes before heading back and straight into bed. And if I'm really good, I'll make some time to read my new book.
Wore my big jacket for the first time this season. This will probably the start of a trend now until Spring, so I best get used to it.
TA - Like Gers, I too remember the post from last year. Time is whizzed by Thinking of you.
HH - Enjoy your trip. People watching is a favourite hobby of mine, too.0 -
TA, I hope you get through the day ok.
We're back in Yorkshire ready to decorate another room. BHF are coming to collect the settee and two chairs. I have mixed feelings because, although they have seen better days and were left by the previous owners, I find the smaller chair very comfortable. I have short thighs (but long below the knee so I'm average height) and find most new furniture too deep for me. We have managed to find two small settees though so hopefully will be ok, they're not coming till Friday so the room will be clear to paint.
We had a lovely weekend with Laura an Ziggy, she has her 36 week scan tomorrow and is feeling well. Probably because she is so tall (5'11) there is more room for the baby than in most women.0 -
Hugs to TA
Im a bit at a loss today as darling husband had to rush up north last night as his dads seriously ill. My DD is coming down from scotland to look after me but that is later so Im struggling a little. Anyway i managed a wash, emptied bins and dishwasher so feeling very pleased with myself as that is the most I've done in weeks - feeling a bit sore now though!
Hope you all have a good day xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Hugs to TA this morning.
Almost packed ready, just the last minute things to do, its a nice morning but going to dry the laundry (sheets etc) in the dryer. Need to make up the bed with clean linen. Sarnies etc to do, hoping that a lady will get here before 12 to collect the large freezer box I bought last year. We were hoping to go to France next year and it would have come in handy, but cannot trust OH not to be ill.
I am packing up Ham salad rolls for supper tonight will have yogurt for a dessert. Tomorrow we will be eating out, possibly fish and chips, in the local chip shop which has a very good write up.0 -
Morning All
Been up since the crack of dawn, 2 loads of washing out as it's lovely and sunny.
The boiler has been serviced this morning, forgot how much the chap could talk but he's good fun. Boiler all ok but got a telling off for not knowing how to top it up!
Worked all day in the garden yesterday, just a little bit to clear now, want to get it done before the skip goes tomorrow. It's been hard work but will be good to get it all done, just need to wait until next year to get plants to fill up the new beds.
Sorry to hear your fil is poorly Molly. Glad your DD is going to look after you, take care.
Happy holidays csarina.
Hugs to you TA.
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Good morning folks.
Now that DM has her breakfast I can sit for a few minutes. I was wide awake at about 2.30a.m. so needed a wee lie this morning. Not that I slept past 6.30a.m. just lay awake with my eyes closed trying to put back getting up.
Another friend is coming to visit DM at about 11.30 - he'll also bring up the bagful of Ensure drinks (56 of them) I've got in the car boot as I can't bring them up the stairs anymore without a great deal of pain. Roll on [STRIKE]Wednesday[/STRIKE] Tuesday!
(Wednesday is for the dentist.)
Later this afternoon I'm meeting Camelot for coffee and a chat.:j
My youngest nephew has had his DNA checked for orgin. He's mostly Scottish / Irish with Norwegian and Swedish along with North West Europe and German traits. He was surprised by the Norway bit until I told him about the Vikings. I don't think that the Vikings feature in Australian school history lessons.:rotfl:
Right, off to prep yet another tea tray!
Happy hols Csarina.
Hope all is OK Molly.0 -
