Approx cost to remove system boiler or combi boiler

Hi, the house i am buying has
1) system boiler
2) hot water tank
3) cold water tank

I want to remove all of them and replace with combi boiler mainly because I need aerial cupboard space to add in the kitchen.

This means I want complete rebuilding the heating system including pipelines and radiators replacement. location of combi boiler will be the same as earlier.

can you please provide approx. expected cost? please share your experience

Sorry if I offend I need the cost value and not unnecessary criticism and arguments..

Thanks

Get some quotes - I had to replace our old back boiler in January 2018 due to it being found to have a leak.

It cost £3,313 to decommission the back boiler (leaving it in Situ due to still needing the Gas Fire to be operational) and to re-route the plumbing to a new Worcester Combi Boiler which went into a cupboard in our living room. That cost also included removing the Hot Water Tank (which was in one of our built in cupboards in the 2nd bedroom) and the removal of the cold water tank from the attic.

You say you want to replace the Radiators - do they need replacing? If your old system was gravity fed, a new combi boiler will dramatically improve the performance of your existing radiators (Pressure fed). If your not moving the boiler, odds are you'll be able to keep the existing pipe-work as well.

Basically... get some quotes from some local companies and be led by them. Our quotes varied by a few thousand £££.

The entire job took 2 days for us - including pulling up carpets and removing floor boards etc... to reroute the pipework.

Ask your surveyor or get a local tradesman in.

I don't get why people ask these "how long is a piece of string?" questions.

so not really just "removing the system boiler" then!

Gas system? Get 3 local independant GasSafe engineers round to discuss the options. Decide which option presented suits you best. Then get 2 more local independant GasSafe engineers roundto quote for that specific option for comparison.

It would not be necessary to replace the radiators and pipework unless there is something wrong with them. That would be adding significant extra cost and disruption to the job which is not necessary for a straightforward system to combi conversion.

Since I am removing hot water tank to free the cupboard for kitchet, I am also removing all the pipelines there. So I am getting suggestion from friends that you rather change the whole pipelines and new radiators. Also because I am doing skimming and painting after removal of wallpaper and new electrical wiring. So, I am advised to change the heating system pipelines and radiotors. They are old. They are working fine though.

I have not bought the house yet but close to exchange and also it is far from where I currently live. So getting a lot of local tradesman and their quotation is difficult for me for now. And I have to decide now since there is pressure from estate agent.

Budget between £4K - £6K for a brand new heating system, but somuch depends on size of property, insulation level, layout etc etc

property is 3 bed semi detached chalet bungalow built in 1960. I found it has cavity wall insulation done recently. however, first floor rooms insulation may not be good because loft conversion done 50 years ago.

I'm not a gas engineer so that does not helpme give you a cost. As advised, get several independant gassafe engineers in to advise and quote.

I was merely listing some of the factors that are relevant to demonstrate your need for a professional.

You could try asking over on DIYNOT where engineers hang out.
