WTC and working over 30 hours

My wife is on a nil hour contract. She was told that to able to claim WTC she'd have to work over 30 hours (per week) The nil hour contract isn't a problem as she's usually working about 20+ per week.
She's worked over 30 hours recently. So would she be paid WTC automatically or would she have to make a claim for the tax credit?
Thank you in advance.

If you don't already claim tax credits then you can't make a new claim because all areas are now a full Universal Credit area. Whether you would be entitled to anything will depend on your household income, savings and capital. My wife is on a nil hour contract.
