Likely places to see deals post Thomas Cook?

Without being too mercantile about it ... I am assuming once the initial supply/demand shock is over in a week or two, there are going to be a lot of hotels really needing a new set of customers after the Thomas Cook collapse..

Where should we be looking do you know? Are there particular resorts around the world that were dominated by Thomas cook?

It’s going to be a difficult period for many hotels and I thought it’d maybe be a good time to go searching. They’d surely be happy for fresh business, and it may enable a cheap holiday that you weren’t otherwise thinking of taking..

    Greece has heavy exposure , at least 25% of the market was TC

    But as pointed out , TC flight slots are not being used so reduced capacity until administrator sells them

    From the summer season most European beach destinations will feel the impact.

    Thomas Cook were particularly strong in -
    * Balearics
    * Canaries
    * Greek Islands, Crete especially.
    * Turkey
    * Tunisia

    For the winter they had a strong presence in -

    * Goa (7 flights lost and the Russian and Scandinavia markets had already reduced arrivals.
    * Antalya gateway of Turkey (although nothing like the summer volume)
    * Tunisia (50% of the U.K. market and 30% of the German market was from TC)
    * Hurghada, Egypt (expect this will be picked up by the Russian and Ukraine markets short term).
    * Cuba (will now lack airlift so flight prices will be much higher and off set any cheaper hotel rates).
    * Gambia
    * Canaries (but hotel rates already quite high and flight access good).
