Element / Elements / Thermostat or all?

Hi all,
I'm googled out with this so may I ask if anyone has been in this situation.
I have a BEKO electric built in oven. Out of the blue (no tripping of fuse), the oven stopped heating up. I tried different settings but no joy, oven stayed cold.
The internal light is on and I can hear the hum drum noise that a fan assisted oven makes. I changed the fuses and checked the wiring and all looked ok.
The grill at the top of the oven also does not heat up. I took the back off the oven and detected some charring on the element that fits around the fan. Great I thought, I'll order a new element and save £££s. But then I thought...why doesn't the grill element not heat up when I select the grill option? Is the grill element faulty too?
Then when googling I came across how to remove the thermostat. My thermostat has a digital control panel that works by nudging a knob left or right.Crikey, what I thought was going to be simple in changing the fan element has now turned into confusing and questioning my own judgement.
Obviuosly I am an amateur DIYer so I don't understand the full workings of an oven. May I ask if anyone knows by just changing the fan element, the grill will start working?
