New UC claim?

Could anyone offer some advice please?
Living in rented accomadation with retired husband, he has a small private pension and receives state pension too. I'm younger at 60 and haven't worked for a number of years, we have very little savings. If we separated what would I be entitled too, what does UC pay, what other benefits would I receive & how much? I take it I'd have to start looking for work to have entitlement to anything?
Thanks in advance!

As a single person you would be entitled to £317.82/month plus help with your rent. The amount of help would be restricted to the one bedroom Local Housing Allowance which can found here http://lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/search.aspx
You would also be able to claim Council tax Reduction from your local authority to help with your Council Tax. The level of support varies in different local authorities.
You would be expected to look for work unless you have health problems that limit your capability to work (this would have to be assessed and accepted by the DWP).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

I should also have said that if you have savings over £6,000 or any other income this will reduce the amount of UC you would get. However I inferred from your opening post that neither of these is likely to apply.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
