You've lived in the property for 8 years but still using your parents' address for your bank accounts? No free lunch, and no free laptop

That's what I said, yes.
During that time I've occasionally spent up to a month abroad for work and was often away multiple times a year. Since I lived alone for much of it, no one was there to pick up my mail. Which could have lead to far more problems than the single problem I alluded to earlier. Since I suspect registering bank accounts to a mail forwarding service is not viable either, maybe the parents solution wasn't so bad.
Now I'm finally not travelling any more (different job) and have a long term partner this isn't a problem these days.0 -

I'd imagine that time at current address is down to when you say you moved in on application, and electoral register. On many applications a large part of the reason your asked is to ensure they pickup as much as they can from the credit reference agency0 -
I should also mention on multiple occasions I was just a month or two from moving to USA. So I wasn’t sure I’d be in this place for more than a year. And then suddenly several years passed.0

I don't think it matters all that much.
Change your address with everyone but I think you'll just have to put down your current address as however long you've actually lived there, not how long it's been reported for.
That may pose a problem or it may not.0
