He's asking random people on the internet as an opening strategy, though. After all, if he goes to an IFA now and is asked what brought him, he will have to say "I was advised to by some random people on the internet"!0

At least he did ask here, before doing something with his money.
That is better than asking here after making basic mistakes with his money or falling for a scam.0 -
Will IFA's be interested in 50k?? I would suggest a multi asset fund like VLS60 or 80 siting in HL or on Vanguards own platform would be pretty sensible.
Not sure if the OP is right to want to invest prior to the 31st Oct either - There has to be better than an even chance that Boris either gets a deal or Corbin ends up as interim PM and gives us an option of Remain or staying in the CU. Any of these scenarios will send the pound up...
If the OP went for HL they could always hedge their bets and put 30k into active savings (instant access at 1.2% or 2% fixed for a year) and the other 20k into a global/ multi asset fund in an ISA.0 -

Most General Practitioner IFAs will be fine with £50k. "wealth management" types less likely to be or will price themselves high to act as a passive blocker.0 -
