I have bought a tomtom one uk v3 as a present and wanted to know if I'll need to get a card to back up the main one like the older tomtom ones did? I haven't opened the box as its a present but will this hold all the extra speed camera stuff once its in use or will I need to get a bigger one to take all the poi's and speed camera stuff?
Basically if I do need one what kind and size do I need to get and will I need anything else? I just wasn't sure if they actually used memory cards anymore on them as I had read somewhere that the new ones didn't use them so as I can't open the box I thought it better to ask on here if anyone who has the v3 version knows?

When i done the speed cameras, i installed the software, then entered the activation code into the software it then downlaoded the speed cameras, i then connected my tom tom to it and it updated it all. No need for any additinal card, also, you can create a backup of your tom tom on your PC.0

Thankyou,
I just realized its internal memory so its a bit of a dissadvantage isnt it from the v2 as once thats full you cant add anymore can you where as with a card youd just get a bigger one. Have you had any problems at all with the unit since you had it? I read on another forum that since v2 to v3 some icons are missing from the slimmed down menu and the inbuilt pois are lacking in detail for uk.
This is a replacement gift for a tomtom one v2 that was stolen so I hope its going to be ok
By the way Terry where do you get your speed camera warnings from as I don't think there are any on this one unless its a free one months worth?Thanx

I Have to say though....tried both camera databases and to me the pocket gps is far better than tomtoms own (its updated better than tomtoms own) both a steal though at £19 a yearWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
Just to add...
If you're installing speed cameras, you won't have a problem. To back it up, install TomTom Home and use that to back up the Tomtom to your hard drive.0 -

I have to agree, but for straight forward ease of updating the in laws chose Tom Tom.0
