1. Each Promotion is subject to the specific directions and, if applicable, any terms and conditions published for the relevant promotion in The Journal or Evening Gazette, (the “paper") or on www.nebusiness.co.uk (the “website”). In the case of conflict between these rules and such specific directions / terms and conditions, these rules shall prevail. By participating in any promotion, you are deemed to accept these rules and the specific directions / terms and conditions applicable to the relevant promotion as well as any terms and conditions of any relevant third party.
2. Employees and agents of ncjMedia, (the Promoter), Trinity Mirror, (“TM”) or any company connected with the production or distribution of a promotion or any of their associated companies are not eligible to take part in the applicable promotion, nor are their relatives or members of their families or households.
Unless expressly stated for a particular promotion, promotions are restricted to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 years or over. Proof of eligibility must be provided on request. Written parental / guardian consent is required where a promotion states that participants may be under the age of 18.
3. The promotion will run on the dates shown in the relevant story on the website or in the paper. The closing date for entries to the Promotion is as shown on the relevant story.
4. Failure to claim a gift, prize or other promotional item by the time or in the manner specified for the particular promotion will make any claim invalid. No responsibility is accepted for entries damaged, lost or mislaid and proof of posting will not be accepted as proof of delivery. No application will be accepted by agents in bulk or from third parties.
5. To enter, entrants must comply with the entry requirements in the relevant story on the website or in the paper and submit their answer as specified in the story. Only one entry per person is permitted unless expressly stated for a particular promotion. The winning entries will be as shown in the relevant story, (e.g. first correct entry drawn on the specific date), which are randomly selected from all of the correct valid entries by the Promoter on the relevant date. The Promoter may require valid identification consistent with the entrant’s details to be provided prior to a prize being awarded. Photocopies will not be accepted.
6. Judging will take place on the date shown in the relevant story. Gifts, prizes and other promotional items are non-transferable, may not be re-sold and are subject to availability. The Editors reserve the right in their reasonable discretion to substitute any such gift, prize or item with a gift, prize or item of equal value.
7. The promoter does not accept liability for lost, corrupted, damaged or otherwise invalidated entries. The promoter does not accept liability for technical, hardware or software failures of any kind or lost or unavailable network conditions which may limit or prohibit ability to participate in the competition.
8. The determination and decision of the Editors of the paper on all matters shall be final and no promotional correspondence will be entered into.
The Editors reserve the right in their reasonable discretion to: (a) disqualify any claimant, competitor or nominee whose conduct is contrary to the spirit of the rules or the intention of the promotion and to declare as void any or all of their claims or entries based on such conduct; (b) to declare as void any claims or entries resulting from any printing, production and / or distribution errors (including but not limited to any error(s) in the paper, the website, any game cards and / or other printed materials) or where there has been error(s) in any aspect of the preparation for or conduct of the promotion materially affecting the result of the promotion or the number of claimants or the value of claims; (c) to add or to waive any rules on reasonable notice; and/or (d) to cancel the promotion or any part of it at any stage in the event of circumstances beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control; (d) declare void any promotion, or specific game card / promotional devices that are found to be mutilated, illegible, altered, reconstructed, forged or tampered with in any way.
9. The winners shall each be entitled to the prize described in the story which shall be delivered by the company providing the prize to the address of the winner within 28 days of judges’ decision. The winner will be contacted directly and announced following the competition draw on the website. If a winner cannot be contacted by their details provided with their entry, the prize will be forfeit and an alternative winner will be drawn. All unclaimed prizes remain the property of the Promoter.
10. The winners agree to allow the free use of their names, photographs and general location for publicity and news purposes. Winners must co-operate fully for publicity purposes if so required. The winners’ identity will be available upon request by sending a stamped self addressed envelope to Promotions, The Journal, Groat Market, Newcastle, NE1 1ED.
11. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions. Receipt of an entry will be deemed to be acceptance of these terms and conditions.

I don't have a credit card, just a debit card with a huge overdraft. I wonder if that qualifies...

I don't have a credit card either, I wondered about entering but it doesn't say anything in the T&C

I suppose if you won and they refused to give you the cash directly, you could just get a credit card that allows you to balance transfer the overdraft onto it.

If you don't have a credit card you could get one, get them to transfer the money onto it and you'd be in credit so then you could use the card for shopping/treats etc. That would give the overdraft time to recover!
