And see the approach from the recruiter as a confidence boost if nothing else - your name has been put forward for something you haven't even applied for, that's great news! Your name is out there in the wider world. I'd certainly be finding out more if it was me, less variety may not be such a concern if you'll have to drop to PT in the future
You are very kind to say this. Thank you, I appreciate it. I can't wait for everything to be sorted and I know how things play out.
Today I painted my first ceiling. A friend came and helped, we were both covered in paint by the end of it. Had to do some filling of some previously unnoticed holes in the ceiling, it's where the old kitchen lights were put in. So I need to go over those areas as we avoided them due to them drying.
I have also purchased my fridge freezer and my washing machine! Exciting!
The deal I wanted for my internet is gone because I left it too late so now I need to decide on a new one. Damn my indecision!
I've also discovered that kitchen organisers can be found in Wilko for a very reasonable cost. I have been looking at them at more expensive prices, I didn't know how useful they would be. I have bad hands so grabbing things stacked on top of each other leads to pain and dropping things. I'm hoping that these things can help with that.1 -
Absolutely knackered! I've been painting for most of the weekend, I didn't anticipate how much effort it takes and how much time. Currently in bed, trying to get my back to stop being angry at me.
I've been painting the living room which is the biggest room in the flat. Downstairs there is the living room, kitchen and hallway, upstairs there is two bedrooms and the bathroom. I need to paint the living room, the bedrooms and the hallways before the carpets are put down so I'm seriously running out of time.
I keep saying that I will go to the flat and do things after work but I'm having to work late. Friday I didn't get out of the office until 7pm. I am not healthy enough to be working that late but never mind.
My friend has moved into her new flat and it is lovely. I'm so pleased for her as she has managed for so long in a very cold inefficient flat, now her bills are a third of the old energy bills. This is despite the new flat being about twice the size of the old.
I need to call my energy company as I have not had the boiler on and my gas meter has eaten up about £10 of credit. It is also not accepting the payment card that has £15 on it.
Happy news! The bathroom work is starting tomorrow! I am very excited and nervous!2 -
Hi killerpeaty.
Just read through your whole diary. Looking forward to following you in the rest of your journey.
Renovations really take it out of you don't they but sounds like you're making really good progress. Good luck with your bathroom work! :TMortgage start: £121,500 Dec 192 -
Hi Bennett, it's really nice to hear from you. Hope you are doing well.
This week, the plumber has been in and doing up the bathroom. However I got a text on monday saying that I didn't get enough tiles. Panic calling and sending my mum to get them later in the week when they were supposedly available (no holidays allowed in tax season). Not available until yesterday. Thankfully my plumber is super nice. It's looking good but not complete yet. This has meant that I have not been able to pee at my flat while doing the painting. It's been testing :rotfl:
The living room is basically done, just some touching up and the door to do. Unfortunately the masking tape I used to give a nice crisp line decided to rip bits of paint. Somehow the masking tape decided to become stickier than superglue after a week up on the wall. I did not know this.
Another thing I have learnt is that gloss is evil.
Went to B&M yesterday, I found the stool I've been looking for. I wanted a tall stool for the kitchen for my weak days, but everywhere I looked just had them in pairs or were approximately all of the money on earth. This one. £12! I sat on it and did the wiggle test. Joyous!
Been quite stressed at work. I majorly messed up an easy piece of work. It's probably due to my taking my eye off the ball due to workload, nonetheless I'm very annoyed at myself for doing this.3 -
I'm pleased to announce that my £12 stool is sitting in my flat. It spent a week in the back seat of the car because I'm a very lazy person. Maybe it's because I couldn't get my sister into the car today, maybe it's because I'm going to a client in the week, maybe because I'm the tidiest person alive (one of those is a lie).
I spent just over £70 on decorating stuff today, it made me weep inside a bit! How is paint so expensive? How is so much used? It's utter madness. I know it's my fault for going for coloured skirting boards and doors, it would have been a lot cheaper to stick with the white as for the main part the skirting boards were okay. It would have also saved a lot of time and effort. But I like the look more now than when I was just thinking about it. I don't pretend to be artistic, but damn the grey skirting boards are gorgeous.
I did my banking yesterday. Boy. I spent about 5k last month with the deposit for the carpets, the white goods, the deposit for bathroom and decorating stuff. This month will be even worse! I owe £4k for the rest of the bathroom and will have about £1k for the carpet.
I have about the right amount in my bank to cover the expenses as they fall. I've been stressed about this. But my mortgage will be below £165k next month which is quite exciting! My investments are up, which I was a bit surprised about considering Brexit, but it's possibly due to my funds being denominated in USD.
The bathroom looks like it's going to be amazing. I'm so pleased, it's nothing like I though it would be. I assumed it would be basic stuff but he's put in these really sleek sharp lined units which is exactly my taste. I'm all about simple and clean lines. It should be done on Monday.4 -
Hello again!
The bathroom isn't quite done. I misunderstood the text, one of the tiles broke and they had finished what they could without the tile. It's annoying because I was told this but then promptly forgot to order the tiles for a couple of days. The storms are making it hard to get the tiles down here from their central warehouse (somewhere up north). It is joyous though. Apparently my bathroom has been a night for the poor plumber though, maybe I should buy him more biscuits.
Hope everyone is ok with the storms. Been very fortunate, only a little leak so I used masking tape to tape up the door and the window where it was coming in. I am definitely going to need to get the flat roof looked at, but I think I need permission from the leaseholder. Although, all of my neighbours have different flat roofs so I think it should be fine.
Been painting the skirting boards at this last weekend. I haven't been well, so I'm drastically behind on painting. I asked a friend of mine for help with painting, she said yes. As long as she doesn't actually paint. Helpful! All of the skirting boards are painted but will need a second coat, all of the doors need to painted and the ceilings need painting prior to the carpets. I can get away with the walls in the main.
Just bought my mattress! I had £45 in vouchers so only paid £354 for a double mattress. It isn't a big name but highly recommended.
Also got my car insurance through, less than £300 for the year! Will have a quick scout around anyway, but I'm pretty pleased with that considering I've only been driving for 4 years.3 -
Am intrigued what help your friend was planning on offering with the painting if it wasn't the painting itself....???Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!2 -
Her offer was to help organise
I don't know what she would organise, but she makes the worst cup of tea you've ever seen so she can't do that!

I would like to Greent, but I'm quite behind with the decorating! I'm hoping to get the majority of the left over decorating done this weekend.
Love your quote in your signature. Haven't heard the second part before.3
